Emrick Announces Over $2.8 Million in Grant Funding Awarded

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Northampton) today announced more than $2.8 million in state grant funding has been awarded to townships and a historical society through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The awards were considered at today’s CFA Board meeting and approved through the Commonwealth’s Small Water and Sewer Program (SWS) and Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Water Projects Program (H2O), and the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR).

“The funds approved today are vital investments as we continue to maintain our infrastructure and preserve our historical heritage,” Emrick said. “I’m incredibly happy to announce the approval of these grant dollars for the communities’ benefit, as it ultimately helps the taxpayers avoid additional tax increases.”

The projects include:

• Moravian Historical Society - $12,029 in PACR funding for its new programs and marketing for the history museum and historical site located in Nazareth Borough.
• Bethlehem Township - $700,000 in H20 funding to install stormwater piping on Walnut Street.
• Hanover Township - $1.6 million in H20 funding for its sewer extension project located at Chaucer Lane and Lord Byron Drive.
• Palmer Township - $250,000 in H20 funding for its sanitary sewer extension project.
• Upper Nazareth Township - $300,000 in SWS funding for its storm water system upgrade project.
The grants are funded from multiple sources with the largest being federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money appropriated for recreation and conservation as part of previous Pennsylvania state budgets.
