Senator Boscola and Representative Emrick Announce $637,857 in grants for local projects

Bethlehem, May 20, 2025 -  State Senator Lisa Boscola and Representative Joe Emrick announced funding totaling $637,857 for projects in Bethlehem Township, Lower Nazareth, Nazareth Borough and Upper Nazareth Township through the Local Share Account – Northampton and Lehigh Counties and the Local Share Account-Monroe County.

“Using casino revenues to fund important public safety and community development projects that benefit our residents is a priority for me,” State Senator Boscola stated. “These revenues fund critical first responder needs and other community priorities which are crucial to ensure the safety of our communities,” Representative Joe Emrick continued.

Senator Boscola and Representative Emrick were pleased to work collaboratively to fund the following projects in the shared portions of their districts through the Local Share Account funded by gaming revenues paid into Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA):

• Bethlehem Township – $35,000 Emergency Management Coordinator Radios
• Bethlehem Township – $132,161 Radios for Nancy Run Fire Company
• Bethlehem Township – $131,443 Bethlehem Twsp Volunteer Fire Co Radio Upgrades
• Bethlehem Township – $11,518 Purchase of EMS IV pumps
• Bethlehem Township - $70,000 Purchase of police vehicles
• Lower Nazareth - $40,000 Colonial Regional Police Vehicle
• Lower Nazareth - $45,000 Hecktown Fire Company Decontamination Equipment
• Nazareth Borough - $75,000 Nazareth Regional Ambulance Transport Van
• Nazareth Borough - $50,000 Public Works Vehicle
• Upper Nazareth Township - $47,735 Upper Nazareth Township Police Car

The Local Share Accounts (LSA) were established by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. The funds are generated by the state’s gaming facilities and may be used for economic development, community development and public interest projects in Northampton, Lehigh and Monroe County and its contiguous counties.

The grants were approved today by the state Commonwealth Financing Authority Board in Harrisburg.
