Emrick: Desperately Needed Traffic Light Coming to Palmer Township Intersection
February 10, 2026
PALMER TOWNSHIP – A Palmer Township intersection that has desperately needed a traffic light for years will finally get one thanks to more than $795,000 coming from Pennsylvania’s Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE) program, announced state Rep. Joe Emrick (R-137).
The funding will be used to put traffic signals at the intersection of Tatamy Road and Newlins Mill Road.
“For years we have met with and heard from constituents about how dangerous this intersection is,” said Emrick. “I have been to the intersection many times and have been working with PennDOT to come up with solutions. With this warranted funding, our community will finally see much-needed safety improvements to this intersection.”
Palmer Township Manager Robert Williams added: “This is great news for Palmer Township residents concerning a very dangerous intersection with a history of multiple accidents. With the ARLE grant funding, and the existing traffic contributions, the township is now fully funded to build a new signalized intersection and improve public safety at Tatamy and Newlins Mill Road, and at no cost to township residents.”
The grant funding Palmer Township will receive is supplied by fines from red light violations at intersections in Philadelphia. State law specifies that projects improving safety, enhancing mobility and reducing congestion can be considered for funding.
